Nazaré Big Waves is an independent Oeste Surf editorial project at nazarebigwaves.live. We bring together offshore conditions, forecasts, available camera imagery and guides to help readers understand the Atlantic around Nazaré.

These terms explain the permitted use of the website and the limits of its information. The site is an information service; it does not provide a supervised beach service, emergency response or a guarantee of a particular wave event.

Weather and marine data describe conditions at the source, model grid or observation point stated. Offshore swell height is different from the height of a wave breaking at Praia do Norte. Period, direction, wind and the local seabed all affect what eventually reaches the coast.

Forecasts, status indicators and seasonal guides carry uncertainty. They do not guarantee a giant-wave day, a breaking-wave height, access to a viewpoint or suitability for surfing, swimming or travel.

Check the source, timestamp and availability shown with each reading. Data can be delayed, incomplete or unavailable. Camera views show only the area and moment captured. Illustrations explain ideas; they are not current observations or navigation and access maps.

Never approach the water’s edge at Praia do Norte during a swell. Watch only from designated areas that are open, remain behind barriers and keep away from exposed cliff edges. Apparently calm conditions do not establish that a beach or viewpoint is safe.

Follow instructions from local authorities, maritime authorities, emergency services and event marshals. Their directions and current access restrictions take precedence over information on this site.

The site cannot assess your circumstances or conditions on the ground. Read the guide to watching safely and confirm official information before making plans.

You may browse the website and share links to its public pages. Use it lawfully and respect other people’s rights.

Do not interfere with the service, attempt unauthorised access, bypass access controls or overwhelm its infrastructure with automated requests. Do not present altered or outdated readings as current information supplied by Nazaré Big Waves.

Editorial text, visual assets, branding and website design may be protected by intellectual property rights. Rights in third-party data, photographs, camera imagery and other material remain with their respective owners and are subject to their licences.
